Elevated strawberry beds are now becoming more and more popular for strawberry growing. Some planters image it will be the best size raised bed for strawberries growing. Just yesterday we completed a new project for an elevated strawberry growing bed in Changyi city, Shandong Province, with a total planting area of 4992㎡ and a total of 5157 linear meters of hanging gutter, using new strawberry planting beds and accessories. The production of the hanging gutter was completed on site in about 9 hours, which was in line with expectations.

We used a 0.7mm thick hanging gutter material with a strength of more than 320pa, 500mm wide, with HDP coating on the surface. After the preliminary software simulation test, the strength of the cultivation gutter is 400kn per meter at a distance of 4 meters, and the deformation of the center is not more than 10mm. This strength of the gutter increases the stability of the planting system and solves the problem of poor drainage caused by the lack of strength of the hanging grow gutter.

Elevated strawberry beds with better wrapping of the planting container.

When strawberry plants are planted in grow containers, the containers are usually deep or cylindrical due to the growth characteristics of strawberry, where the roots of strawberry grow downward. Therefore, in the new planting tank, we adjust the height of the edge of the steel gutter to make the cultivation gutter form a better container wrapping, so that when the lifting system works, the planting pot can be completely inside the planting gutter without sliding out from the side.

In this project, we negotiated with injection container supplier to produce a special planting container for this type of tank, with 4.7L of substrate per container and 198*198mm of planting pot, which can be used to plant two strawberry plants in a single container. The more accurate substrate distribution unit provides a very good basis for accurate irrigation, and when using drip irrigation or drip arrow to replenish strawberry seedlings with water and fertilizer, growers can more scientifically replenish the unit amount of water and fertilizer control.

For the new tank, we have developed a new planting system attachment, which is based on the characteristics of strawberry growth, incorporating fruit and leaf separation and fruit net installation, and improving the fruit and leaf separation and fruit net fixing devices at the end, increasing the lateral tension strength at the end to ensure the stability and reliability of the planting attachment in the system operation. At the same time, we adopted the central fixing hook in the middle of the tank for the first time, which can effectively enhance the stability of the fruit-holding net and fruit-leaf separation in the 4m opening.

We will share with you more practical feedback on the planting system later when it is delivered to the planters and they start to actually use the planting system for planting.
